Why your donation is vital

The building of York Minster was financed through legacies and gifts. Throughout its subsequent history, repairs, adornments, conservation, beautification, all have been financed in the same way. This great building belongs to all of us, not to the State, not to the Church of England. Entry charges allow only the basic day-to-day work and routine maintenance to proceed. Our forebears built and sustained the Minster over many centuries: and now it is our turn to shoulder the responsibility. At a time of severe challenges, Yorkshire bluntness is perhaps the order of the day. York Minster cannot survive without your help.

Since 1967, the Dean and Chapter of York have worked alongside the York Minster Fund (Charity Number 252157) to raise funds to support the life and work of the Minster. All fundraising for York Minster is now directed from the York Minster Fund Office.

Dr. Richard Shephard and the Hon. Michael Benson head the office, supported by an administrative team comprising Heidi Carberry, Karen Powell and Diana Terry.
