Adopt A Book
York Minster Library, housed in the Old Palace, is the largest cathedral library in the country, with over 120,000 books, tracts and pamphlets covering the history of York and Yorkshire, the Minster, stained glass, mediaeval and ecclesiastical history as well as theology, science, atlases, ballads, early newspapers...
The Adopt a Book scheme aims to build up an endowment fund to support the care of these collections long-term. By adopting one or more books you can help maintain the accessibility of the collections and make a contribution to the costs of their preservation.
£25 adopts a book printed after 1701
£75 adopts a book printed 1601 - 1700
£150 adopts a book printed 1501 - 1600
£250 adopts a book printed before 1501
The library is open to the public for reading and lending and the catalogue is available online at http://yorsearch.york.ac.uk.
